During my UX design certification program, I was tasked with creating an intuitive and visually appealing platform for users to sell NFTs.The goal was to offer a user-friendly experience that enables users to effortlessly discover new NFTs by utilizing useful filters, as well as allowing them to create collections of items they wish to purchase and verifying the credibility of the seller. The project was completed over several weeks and involved an end-to-end UX design process.

As I was very much interested in blockchain technology, and me being a user of these NFT marketplaces, I was aware of some basic problems and also I started my research by reading blogs, articles and referring to some videos that helped me to get some assumptions in my research phase.

After getting a basic understanding of problem space and collecting some data points through secondary research. I wanted to know user journeys and experiences, and pain points in detail. So, I had a conversation with my friends who are into the NFTs space and gained some insights about it, noted in the form of user stories.

Crazy 8's

I used Crazy 8's method, which is an excellent way to keep you in a constant state of creative thinking and come up with quick solutions for each of the features, and generate as many possible ideas to design a specific feature.

Paper Sketches

After having a basic understanding of User Flow, I started making paper sketches so that I can iterate quickly and easily. While making sketches, I iterated several times to get the final desired solution remembering that in the given data points, I shouldn’t miss out on any information.

I was all set to undertake a round of user testing with 5 participants after building the initial prototype. I was able to see how users engaged with the prototype in real-time and identified places that might not be as intuitive to the user, in addition to gaining useful feedback from the participants.

Learnings:

πŸ‘‰ After testing I found out that the color contrast ratio was poor, which can affect the usability and accessibility of the platform. from then I ensure that the contrast ratio meets accessibility standards.

πŸ‘‰ Using too many colors on a platform can overwhelm users and understood that it is important to keep the colour palette simple and consistent.

This case study highlights my implementation of a user-centered design process when I started the very first mock project during my UX design program. The result? It was Not an exceptional user experience or visually striking and captivating UI design. Instead, it primarily served as a learning experience, providing valuable insights into assessing and enhancing my design skills. Since then, I've made significant improvements in my craft!

In conclusion, this mock project has highlighted the importance of involving users in the design process to create better products. The value of incorporating user feedback in the design process. I learned how, validating initial assumptions and identifying pain points, can help us create a better user experience and improve the overall product. Overall, this project was a valuable learning experience and a great example of how user-centered design can lead to successful outcomes.
